My Becker financial review course is over, and now I am trying to continue studying (It's hard, after 5 weeks of non-stop studying and working), and waiting for my NTS. I got the email from Castle stating that my application went through and she sent my eligibility information to NASBA and they will issue my Notice to Schedule within 72 hours. I really want to sit July 3, so I can relax on 4th of July and have a couple weeks to chill before Audit starts. July 3rd also happens to be my 4 years clean and sober which is amazing. I have really come to realize that I can do anything I set my mind to, and this is just one of those things.
Becker has really helped me feel more confident about the exam, and given me the tools to figure out my weaknesses and really study effectively before this exam. Hopefully all my hard work will pay off. The only thing that really bums me out, is that I will not find out how I do on either Financial or Audit (which I plan to take in August), until September!! I think they do that on purpose just to make sure we can really handle the pressure!!
Anyways I better get back to work. I haven't blogged in a couple weeks and felt like I was all leaving ya hanging.
Happy Studying!!

Waiting for my NTS

Good luck! Passing the CPA exam was the hardest thing I've ever done (next to childbirth). I just found out today that I passed BEC which was the last part I needed.
Unfortunately it is true that you will have no life while you study. Explain to everyone that you care about that you are studying for the hardest exam you've ever taken - if they love you they will understand.
Becker was the best thing to ever happen to me. I tried studying on my own with some other materials. I took FAR and REG and ended up with 74's on both - so close but not passing! I wanted to cry - I took REG again and got a 73 and then gave up for a while (almost a year). Then at my annual review at work it was mentioned that I should be working on getting my license - that was the end of August 2008. I immediately signed up for Becker. I took FAR the end of September and AUD the end of October - I was estatic when I found out just before Christmas that I had passed both. Becker did not have any classes in December (I took live classes for the structure) so I took time off from my studies until January when I took REG classes. I sat for REG in the first week of February. I was scheduled to take BEC classes in February but wound up with a very busy "busy-season" schedule so I changed from live classes to CDs. In March I got the news that I passed REG. At this point I was left with BEC. I wanted to take it ASAP just to be done but without the structure of live classes I kept putting off my studies. I finally took BEC the last week of May and got my results today.
If I can offer any advice to those going through this I would say to study, study, study. You NEED to do ALL of the homework questions and get them all correct at least once. I made sure I put at least 100 hours of study time (classes and homework combined) into each section. It worked for me!
Since I took the exam the end of May I have not done any more studying (some people I know have continued to study the same part just incase they didn't pass). My kids are thrilled (I have 3 teenagers) because now I have time to do things - like cook (during exam time I was cooking like a crazy woman on Sundays so they had something to heat up for dinner).
Good luck with your journey and congrats on the 4 years clean & sober - if you can achieve that then the exam should be a breeze!
Hi Nicole,
Whats up girlie? Did you take BEC? I'm scheduled for REG and FAR in August and yes, I know I am crazy. Actually, I'm on break from studying now and going back in in a few. Let us know where you are....
How did you go about choosing a review course? There are so many options out there and they aren't cheap.
